The study tracks digital consumer behavior and this year’s findings reveal accelerated audio consumption across multiple platforms, with.
Key findings from the report include:
84% of those in Australia ages 18+ who have driven or ridden in a car in the past month use total radio (broadcast plus streaming), making it the top choice for in-car audio
27% of those in Australia ages 18+ who have driven or ridden in a car in the past month stream radio in-car, showcasing the digital evolution of the medium
Over half of those in Australia ages 10+ (52%) consume audio or video podcasts monthly
One in three Australians ages 25–54 stream radio weekly
40% of Australians ages 10+ own a smart speaker, an increase of 43% in the past two years
“With one in three 25–54s now streaming radio weekly, up 6.5% since last year, and half of Australians consuming podcasts monthly, the message is loud and clear: audio delivers scale, impact and connection and gives audiences what they want, when they want, however they want it,” said CRA CEO Lizzie Young.

How the study was conducted A national survey of 1,543 Australians aged 10+ was conducted by Edison Research in the first quarter of 2025: 1,240 interviews online and 303 interviews via telephone.
