2026 marks the first year podcasts have been included in the Golden Globe Awards, with six titles being nominated for Best Podcast. Armchair Expert with Dax Shephard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, The Mel Robbins Podcast, Smartless, and Up First from NPR are the nominees. If you regularly read this newsletter, you’re familiar with these shows being listed in the Edison Podcast Metrics ranker of podcasts with the largest weekly consumers. Today, we are showcasing a feature that Edison Podcast Metrics subscribers can access: “Notable Demographic Stories”.
Advertising sales teams can quickly see where any given show overperforms. As one example, Up First from NPR is the 23rd largest show for weekly reach overall in our current rankings. However, the show is 7th for both Latino business owners and all business owners who earn more than $150,000 per year. These are the highest rankings for that show in any of the demographic combinations in our system.
The graphic below shows the “Top Demographic Story” for each of the nominated shows:
It’s important to note that these notable stories are based off rolled data from Q4 2024 – Q3 2025. Shows such as Good Hang and The Mel Robbins Podcast, which have exploded in popularity over the last year, rank higher in the last unique quarter than they do over the last year, but directionally their demographic stories will be consistent.
The demographic datapoints highlighted above are only a small taste of the data and insights Edison Podcast Metrics offers. Edison Podcast Metrics is an essential tool for understanding specific podcast audiences as well as the broader weekly podcast listening or viewing population.
