Marketplace Edison Research Poll

American Public Media’s Marketplace® has partnered with Edison Research to conduct an ongoing research series around Americans’ economic anxiety. The principal focus of this study is to develop the Economic Anxiety Index and track it over time.

The Marketplace-Edison Research Survey is particularly focused on Americans’ personal economy – how they feel about their own personal financial situation and their opinions about economic issues.  This survey measures how the economy is functioning in the eyes of average Americans in a way that unemployment statistics and stock market indicators cannot capture.

Since it began in 2015, the Marketplace-Edison Research Survey has also covered topics such as whether Americans think the economy is rigged, Americans’ fear of recessionthe gig economy, and sexual harassment in the workplace. This survey has also tracked Americans’ economic anxiety levels before and after the 2016 presidential election.
