Now the Senate hopes to rescue music-playing webcasters
Entry by
Democratic sponsor Ron Wyden cites recent research by Edison and Arbitron and says it's about "keeping Internet radio alive." Republican co-sponsor Sam Brownback says he's "alarmed by the Copyright Royalty Board decision" to dramatically hike rates for streaming music - which would crush some smaller operators and also make a dent in the budget for terrestrial stations that stream. The House companion bill is named the "Internet Radio Equality Act."
